Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD), in collaboration with UNICEF and supported by FCDO, recently conducted a successful midterm review for the project titled “Protecting Crisis-affected Children from Violence, Exploitation, Abuse, Neglect, and Harmful Practices.” in the city of Bahir Dar.
A total of 46 participants attended the review session, including notable figures such as H.E. Birtukan Sisay, the Head of BoWCSA in the Amhara Region, Ato Ayenew Mesele from UNICEF serving as a Child Protection Officer, and Ato Tilaye Gizachew, the Executive Director and Founder of MSD.
Key highlights from the review include providing support to 2,185 vulnerable children through cash assistance and case management, delivering training to over 800 stakeholders on child protection, assisting 201 Unaccompanied and Separated Children, supporting 67 children impacted by explosive ordnance, forming 40 Child Rights Committees for advocacy purposes, reaching over 3,647 individuals through awareness events, and distributing educational and administrative supplies to schools and Woreda offices.
Community feedback expressed gratitude, stating, “This project is God-sent. It came at the right time.” Stakeholders commended MSD for its courage and impact in conflict-affected areas, recognizing it as a model for humanitarian action.
The importance of continued partnership, utilization of data insights, and integration of client feedback was emphasized to ensure the sustainability and scalability of the achieved results.
