
Mahiberehiwot for Social Development (MSD), in partnership with Heineken Ethiopia and the Akaki Kality Sub-City Administration, Woreda 09, has officially launched and handed over a transformative animal fattening and food processing project, benefiting 75 households in the Killinto and Koyefeche communities.
After taking a comprehensive needs assessment and selection process Mahiberehiwot for Social Development along with Heineken and Akaki Kality’s Woreda 9 administration determined 30 beneficiaries in Killinto and 45 in Koyefitche who are the breadwinners of their perspective households with special consideration given to women headed households and individuals with disabilities .
The Beneficiaries of this initiative will be actively engaged 4 different sectors such as Animal fattening , Dairy farming , Cattle rearing , poultry and Small scale business. The purpose of this initiative is to promote economic empowerment and reliance for the beneficiaries at the grass roots level while ensuring local food security.
By providing livestock , feed , veterinary support , food processing skills and different trainings to participants ; this initiative is expected to significantly enhance participants livelihoods and promote a positive and lasting impact within the community. With a total investment of 30 million Ethiopian birr, the initiative aims to improve household livelihoods and promote sustainable income generation within the local community.
The handover ceremony was attended by key stakeholders and beneficiaries, including Mr. Tilaye Gizachew, Founder and Executive Director of MSD; Mr. Bart, Managing Director of Heineken Ethiopia; Mr. Fekadu Bashah, Sustainability, External and Government Affairs Manager at Heineken Ethiopia; and Ms. Kenean Gezahige, Chief Executive Officer of Akaki Kality Woreda 09.
