Today marked a significant milestone as MSD, in collaboration with Save the Children International, officially launched the second phase of the “East African Migration Route project” at the esteemed Florida Hotel in Gondar city. This groundbreaking project is scheduled to run from February 2025 to January 2029.
As one of the key implementing partners, MSD will be focusing its efforts on the Metema area of the Amhara Region and Addis Ababa. The project, financially supported by the Swiss International Development Fund, aims to tackle migration-related challenges by addressing crucial aspects such as reunification, reintegration, provision of shelter services, community support, and capacity building.
During the launch event, Mr. Hayleyesus, the Project Manager from Save the Children, presented the overarching framework of the project. Additionally, Mr. Zerihun, a technical expert from Save the Children, shared a comprehensive overview of the achievements from Phase One and delineated the planned activities for Phase Two.
On the MSD front, Mr. Tilaye Gizachew, the Executive Director, provided an insightful overview of MSD’s background, organizational capacity, and its pivotal role in the project. The launch event drew the attendance of relevant stakeholders, dedicated project staff, and esteemed community representatives. A fruitful discussion ensued, with participants demonstrating their unwavering commitment and stressing the significance of sustained collaboration and communication throughout the project’s implementation journey.
