MSD Upholds Commitment to PESA Through Internal Training in Addis Ababa

A pivotal moment transpired today as Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) conducted a profound Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PESA) orientation session for both the Addis Ababa FFHIV team and the head office staff, with a total of 26 dedicated individuals in attendance.

This impactful internal training, meticulously organized and spearheaded by Mr. Getachew Kassa, the PSEA focal person and M&E director at MSD, delved into essential topics surrounding Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH). The orientation covered crucial areas, including defining SEAH, distinguishing between Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and SEAH, outlining the IASC principles on SEAH, and elucidating MSD’s Policy, Responsibility, and Accountability statement concerning SEAH.

The interactive PESA training proved to be very informative, providing a platform for staff members to engage in discussions on real-life SEAH cases they have encountered. Through these discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the impacts of SEAH and the urgent need for vigilance and action.

This internal training session serves as a  reaffirmation of MSD’s unwavering stance on maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment among its staff, associates, partners, and all individuals associated with its operations.

It stands as a strong testament to MSD’s steadfast commitment to advocating for justice and supporting survivors of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment, echoing our dedication to fostering a safe and respectful environment for all.
