Following the practical experience of MSD on implementing, Social Accountability for Better Primary Health Service Delivery (FP/ RMNCH), Addressing the RH needs of Gondar, Bahirdar, Debre tabor and Debre Markos University Students, Strengthening D/Markos University Capacity to Sustainably Address Students’ SRHR, scaling up Optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Practice through Communication and Social Mobilization and Extending and Expanding Simein Mountains Mobile Medical Service.
This project is going to be implemented at 57 kebeles in 4 weredas (West Dembia, Takusa, Alefa, Chilga) of West Amhara Cluster 3 of Amhara Region focusing on life stage packages with primary and secondary audiences like timed house hold visits, conducting discussion among the husbands of pregnant women, moms and dads’ group, adolescent peer group and organizing new baby fair events and malaria prevention activities at Chilga Wereda.

Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) has been implementing “East African Migration Route project(EAMR)” with major intervention activities including education, psycho-social support, child wellbeing structure strengthening, community awareness and rehabilitation and reintegration to implement in Gendawuha project site in collaboration with partners, stakeholders and the community for project beneficiaries who are children and youth on the move, youth and children at risk of vulnerabilities and sexually maltreated children and youth.
Goal/Objectives
The main purpose of the project is to contribute to the eradication of child trafficking and unsafe migration in Ethiopia specifically targeting East Africa migration route including the Ethio-Sudanese borders with special emphasis to build the capacity and awareness of duty bearers and deliver effective system/structures and approaches to prevent violence against children and also build the capacity and awareness of duty bearers and establish systems/structures and approaches that can ensure the protection of children.

Target Description
To ensure sustainable community engagement in the response to FGM and multi sectoral response to FGM, MSD will focus on maintaining strong local lead program implementation. The project will enhance partnership and collaboration with government, community-based structures and other partners to increased community leadership, leveraging the existing capacity and local efforts to support target beneficiaries. As implementing partner, MSD will work to ensure the local capacity to the response of FGM.
The project implementation and management structure are designed to be collaborative with governmental and non-governmental organization including community-based structures. MSD will be responsible for overall project implementation, management and performance. The project management approaches and structures are cautiously built to manage the integrated community-based response to FGM that will work in collaboration with the ZHDs, Woreda HOs, health facilities, schools, education offices/departments, private sectors, Community Care Coalitions (CCC), community-based organizations (IDIRs, Jemiyas) and other local implementing partners in a manner to address critical policy, programmatic, social, and structural barriers (e.g., stigma, punitive laws, and gender-based violence) and inequities in health service access. The project will ensure the engagement of the health extension professionals, school clubs women/youth leagues, associations, CSOs, CBOs, and FBOs to ensure the sustainability of the project services.
