Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – July 13,2024
Today marked the official launch of a significant community economic strengthening initiative, a collaborative effort between Heineken Ethiopia and the civil society organization MSD. This ambitious project aims to create jobs and support economic growth at the household level, targeting 45 households in the Koye-feche area of the Oromia region and 30 households in Kilinto, Woreda 09, within the Addis Ababa City Administration, thereby benefiting a total of 75 households.
The launch event featured a series of keynote addresses from prominent stakeholders:
- Mr. Fikadu from Heineken provided a comprehensive overview of the project, detailing its scope and the positive impact anticipated for the local communities.
- Mr. Tilaye Gizachew, Executive Director of MSD, elaborated on the organization’s intervention strategies and the project’s implementation framework.
- Mr. Tolawork, representing the Mayor of Koyefeche Sub-City, emphasized the local government’s commitment to the project and underscored the critical importance of the partnership.
- Wro Keenan, Chief Executive of Akaki Kaliti Sub-City, Woreda 09,highlighted the support from her administration and the collaborative efforts needed to ensure the project’s success.
Each speaker acknowledged the vital role of this initiative in fostering economic resilience and expressed their gratitude for the concerted efforts to achieve the project’s objectives. This project is expected to significantly enhance the livelihoods of the targeted households, contributing to broader socio-economic development in the region.
